1975 SC1a Bolo

1975 SC-1a Conclave Bolo

Description: This item was our first lodge or council issued bolo tie. It was issued for the 1975 Section SC-1a conclave hosted by Lodge 413 at Arkansas State University in August of that year.

Bolo ties were becoming very popular in the early 1970's with more and more scouts moving away from neckerchiefs. When we were preparing to host the conclave there was a very strong desire to produce something new and different in our section for the trading post. The basic design of the conclave patch was adapted to this small round bolo. The original artwork for all items had intended that the lodges in our section would be represented on the red strips. These are represented on the bolo: 148 (should have been 149), 160, 232, 366, 399 and 559. Our 413 was represented below the stripes. The gold stripes should have been white however.

Like the patch, the bolo was designed by Stephen White.
