FAKE! The design of this patch is not very close to the real thing. NO design
had ever included a thunderbird where this one contains one in place of the
campfire smoke curl on a real issue. Also, the arrows on the Red triangle are
Blue instead of the correct White. The foreground is a very light Blue compared
to the real J1/J2/J6. This design was observed a year or so after the appearance of the ZJ1 about 1998. When we first saw it, it provoked laughter from our Vigil members given the poor reproduction of the basic design. However, when we saw a copy sold at auction for over $1500, the humor seemed lacking. In two cases when this item was offered for private sale, we contacted the sellers to make them aware of the FAKE nature. Both elected to continue their sales. We cannot account for why the person(s) producing the FAKE would do such a poor job of copying the design. |
