Description:Our tenth annual Homecoming brought our
largest crowd to-date, dispite the threat of rain most of Saturday. A total of
267 new and old campers at Cedar Valley arrived for a busy weekend of games,
fishing, boating, a 5k hike around the lake, and of course patch trading.
Shooting sports saw new target stands installed at the rifle range, and a new
electric trap and flag pole (among other things) at the shotgun range thanks to
donations from our range crews. For the first time we had a formal trading post
setup in the dining hall with drinks, candy and chips in addition to various
memorabilia. Meals were, as always, simply fantasitic highlighted by the
Saturday evening feast! We once again had nice gathering of items for our
silent auction. Together with donations, the auction raised over $2400 for
Scout camperships to be used in the coming years. Several first time scout
troops, crews and Webelos Scouts were in attendance. Saturday evening was
capped off by a traditional Pine Trail Reservation campfire of old songs, new
skits and stories. The 2012 event was lead by co-chairmen Randy Jenkins and Stephen White. |
