1987 SC2 Conclave

1987 Section SC2 Conclave Patch

Description: Our 1987 conclave would be our last for some time as an "All Arkansas" gathering. With the regional relignment to four regions and sectional adjustments that seemed to occur yearly, we would go for several years in a different section almost each year. Slight more than 300 arrowmen attended this year which was to that time a high for a conclave that we had hosted.

Native American Dance competion was particularly keen at the conclave. The following individuals took top honors:

  • Southern Feather: 1st-Lee St.Pierre (413)
  • Old Style: 2nd-Michael Pouncy (413)
  • Large Group: 1st-L'Anguille Chapter (413)
  • Small Group: 2nd/3rd-Dixie Chapter (413)

Also in Order of the Arrow ceremonies competion:

  • Pre-Ordeal: 1st Place team consisting of Matt Daniels, Joseph Kueter, Shannon Steele and Mike Caffey (413)
Other highlights consisted of a whole hog Luau shortly after the pow wow. Then the 413 special entertainment crew presented their version of the Wizard of Oz directed by Jeff Puryear, and his cast of numerous arrowmen starts.

This was the first year that we issued two different pocket patches. The Blue border version shown here was for all conclave participants. There was also a Green border "staff" version intended for those who worked to setup and run the conclave. While most of the Green border versions would naturally have gone to our own lodge members, some would also have gone to members of other lodges working in such 'Staff' positions. Also offered were conclave t-shirts ($5), a conclave pin ($2.25), conclave bolo ($3.50) and mug ($4).

The conclave coordinator was James Goad. Patch designed by Michael Pouncey. The event cost $20.50.
