S23 Flap

Blue Book: S23

Description: This flap marked the first time that our lodge issued a flap to commemorate an event (other than an anniversary). The flap was designed during our Ordeal weekend in May 1994, and initially intended to be sold only to our NOAC contingent. Shortly before this, we had purchased our first lodge hats, which were Blue. The same manufacturer produced the flap order shortly thereafter. We never really understood why, but the manufacturer used yellow (rather than red) thread for the arrow and WWW. Since time was short, we couldn't reorder so the flap was used anyway.

Initially, the lodge leadership balked at issuing a 'special event' flap, but were convinced by some of the NOAC contingent it would be a good thing for our contingent since so many lodges did special flaps for NOAC. Following NOAC, a few of the flaps remained and were then sold to any lodge member wishing to purchase them.
