Description: This issue, and the two related variants, is
the result of reorders of the (Blue Book) S22. The primary differences occur in
the shades of Green and the shape of the thunderbird. Compared to the earlier
S22, the five small cedar trees are not as sharply defined. We are confidant
that this issue occurred before the other two variants. It must be noted that
identifying the three variants however, is very difficult unless all three are
compared at one time. Frequently, scanned images have not provided a realistic
rendition of the subtle color shades of Green involved. Over time, all variants
were in the trading post concurrently. Therefore you might have been able
to purchase any of the three flaps at any point, though we think it very likely
that most of this variant were used first. This variant was issued concurrently with the 1994 NOAC and for a period thereafter. A limited number of this issue, mixed with the others, may have been available as late as 1999. In one case all three variants are known to have been sold to a collector at the 1999 Fall Fellowship for example. For a side-by-side comparison of all three varients click Comparison of S24a/b/c. |
