Description: This issue was the Vigil flap that was
available as part of our 50th Anniversary set. This was the first multiple flap
set issued since the early 1980's. Unlike our 25th Anniversary set, there
weren't specifically any restrictions on which flaps individual members could
purchase. All members were afforded the opportunity to buy one set (O,B,V).
Thereafter, extra flaps were supposedly only to be purchased up to your current
level of membership. This policy was not strictly enforced however. The
majority of these flaps were sold in sets to Vigil members of our lodge, other
than one/person sets that anyone could purchase. To make the design clearer, significant effort went into redesigning the flap. For example, the central cedar tree was enlarged. A Black bead of stitching was also incorporated along the Green hills to enhance the contrast. This set consisted of a flap for Ordeal, Brotherhood and Vigil; a backpatch and a necherchief patch. Many of the lodge members also considered the NOAC flap (S27) to be a part of "the set" even though they were sold separately. |
Period of Issue: 1998. Restrictions: None. Quantity Issued: 250. Characteristics: Red border; Gold mylar name and fdl; Black bead along hills, 52x119mm. |
